Rationale:
|
AUSD was identified as being significantly disproportionate in the areas of identification of students with Autism. The Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CCEIS) plan required and approved by the California Department of Education (CDE) includes contracting a consultant to support implementation of identified actions inclusive of a comprehensive Student Study Team Process; technical assistance related to preschool interventions and diagnostic assessments; and, outreach to parents and the community supporting information related to Autism. Lastly, the consultant will provide general recommendations related to Special Education services, programs, staffing, and supports.

Budgetary Impact:
|
Cost, not to exceed $260,000, will be paid from funding from the mandated 15% set aside of Special Education Federal Funding and the State Prevention and Dispute Resolution funds focused on inclusion, equity, and family partnerships.

Recommendation:

It is recommended the Board of Education approve the agreement between AUSD and AALRR.
