Rationale:
|
Attendance at the University of California, San Diego SHPE event will allow high school students to broaden their views about college, engineering, and being a Hispanic in the engineering field. It will also familiarize the students with the resources available at the University of California, San Diego. This field trip will also offer an opportunity to experience college life through participation in engineering activities scheduled throughout the day. The overall goal is to influence students in a positive way and to assist them in being prepared to make informed decisions after high school. Approximately 20 student members of the Azusa High School's Engineering Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway will participate in the SHPE high school event on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 7:30am - 4:00pm. Students will take a district bus to the event. The trip needs the Board of Education's approval because it exceeds the sixty-mile limit.

The transportation cost of $1180.00 will be paid from the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant.
