Rationale: Six students in various AHS Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways will attend and compete at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference from April 4-7, 2024, at the Ontario Convention Center. The field trip will give AHS career path students an opportunity to participate in leadership and career exploration sessions geared towards college and career preparation. Participating students will compete at the state level in the CTE competition they qualified for. Transportation to and from the conference will be provided by parents of the participating students. The students will be supervised by two AHS teachers. As contestants, students are required to stay at the conference all four days. This is the second year AUSD will attend the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference. Board of Education approval is necessary since the trip requires overnight stay.
Budgetary Impact: The cost, not to exceed $7,000, to be paid from District grants.
Recommendation: It is recommended the Board of Education ratify/approve AHS's participation in the 2024 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference.
