Rationale: Approximately 10 members of AHS’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Engineering Academy program will participate in a two-day field trip to the Central Valley on December 7 and December 8, 2023. Students will be visiting a High-Speed Rail construction site and Fresno State University. Transportation will be provided by chartered bus. The students will be supervised by AHS CTE teachers. The field trip will give AHS Engineering students an opportunity to explore careers in transportation, construction, and engineering, including the training and education available for those careers at the postsecondary level. AHS has been visiting Fresno State University since 2022. Board of Education approval is necessary since the trip requires overnight travel.
Budgetary Impact: The cost, not to exceed $6,500, to be paid from CTE Incentive Grant.
Recommendation: It is recommended the Board of Education approve AHS’s High-Speed Rail and Fresno State field trip.
