Rationale: Approximately 15 members of the AHS’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Engineering Academy program will be allowed to participate in a two-day field trip to the Central Valley on February 23 and February 24, 2023. Students will be visiting a High-Speed Rail construction site and Fresno State University. Transportation will be provided by chartered bus. The students will be supervised by Azusa CTE teachers. The field trip will give AHS Engineering students an opportunity to explore careers in transportation, construction, and engineering, including the training and education available for those careers at the postsecondary level. The trip needs approval because it exceeds the Azusa Unified School District’s sixty-mile limit and requires overnight accommodations.
Budgetary Impact: The cost, not to exceed $6,500, to be paid from Career Technical Education Incentive Grant.
Recommendation: It is recommended the Board of Education approve AHS's High-Speed Rail and Fresno State field trip.
