Rationale: As part of the School Reorganization process, the Board of Education decided that Azusa High School would need to change its mascot and that a committee, with the help of an outside facilitator, would need to come together for the purposes of deciding a new mascot.

With the help of our facilitator, Dr. Jessica Wong, a committee representing students, parents, staff, alumni, and representatives of the indigenous community came together. Over the course of four meetings, the committee decided that the new mascot for Azusa High School Aztecs would be a Jaguar.

Now that the mascot is decided, staff will work on getting input on what the mascot will look like and what it should represent. To begin the input process, the Azusa High School Mascot Committee will reconvene on November 7, 2022, to provide initial input.
