Resolution #22-23.23 to Establish a Facilities Advisory (7-11) Committee and Appoint Committee Members.pdf
Rationale: District staff is in the process of reviewing the District's current and future facilities needs. Such review takes into account student population, cost of building rehabilitation and modernization, as well as the identification of surplus property, in addition to other factors. The State Legislature has directed that decisions regarding the use of property previously built or operated as an elementary or secondary school include the input of the community so that such use is compatible with the community's needs and desires. In order to engage community input, pursuant to Education Code sections 17388 et. seq., the District is forming a Facilities Advisory Committee consisting of not less than seven (7) nor more than eleven (11) members ("Facilities Advisory Committee" or "7-11 Committee") to compile information and provide recommendations to the Board of Education about the use of its real property. Staff will be directed to take such actions as necessary to facilitate the functioning of the Facilities Advisory Committee, which will present a report on recommended uses of real property. Once formed, the Facilities Advisory Committee will first consider six (6) properties identified in Resolution #22-23:23.
