Rationale: 11th and 12th grade AHS AVID students will visit colleges in Southern California, November 19 - 20, 2024. The field trip will expose students to different colleges that are within a reasonable geographic area. Students will experience campus life, listen to lectures, take campus tours, receive information regarding academic expectations, experience going away to college and receive information on financial aid and the Equal Opportunity Program. One teacher and three chaperones will escort 40 students on visits to California State University San Marcos, San Diego State University, UC San Diego and UC Irvine over this two-day trip. Board of Education approval is necessary since the trip requires overnight stay. AUSD has been attending AVID college bound field trips since 2015.
Budgetary Impact: The cost, not to exceed $389 per student, to be paid from Supplemental and Concentration funds.
