Rationale: The AUSD Team has been testing and researching security camera systems in order to meet security priorities. These priorities include: who is on campus/facial recognition, forensics to help with site issues/vandalism, a deterrent to crime, preventative (alerts / motion detection), coverage of high-risk areas, increased coverage, 1080p or higher quality per camera, easy to manage for principals, security, and technology staff.

The cost for the hardware, software, and 10-year licensing on the cameras and visitor management will be $1,218,898.43. This includes $850,130.70 in savings extended from Verkada, as well as aggressively discounted pricing from the partner company Safe and Sound, which will broker the purchase. There will also be expected savings in technology staff time for maintaining the camera servers as well as the costs associated with replacing the camera servers.
Budgetary Impact: The cost, not to exceed $1,218,898.43, will be paid from Bond Fund 21.
Recommendation: It is recommended the Board of Education approve contract between AUSD and Safe and Sound Security.
