Rationale: The camp will give thirty-five members of the Azusa High School Cross Country Team an opportunity to develop personal well-being, demonstrate sensitivity and equitable treatment of others, and develop pride through camaraderie and team building activities. This five-day running camp will be held in San Mateo State Park in San Clemente, CA, August 4, 2022, through August 8, 2022. Transportation will be provided by District van or bus. Students will be supervised by the coach. Azusa High School's Cross Country Team has attended summer camps since 2014. Approval from the Board of Education is necessary as the trip exceeds the Azusa Unified School District’s sixty-mile limit and requires overnight accommodations.
Budgetary Impact: The cost, not to exceed $200 per student, will be paid from fundraisers.
Recommendation: It is recommended the Board of Education approve the Azusa High School Cross Country team attending summer camp.
