Rationale:
|
Education budget trailer bill AB 130 signed by Governor Newsom in July 2021 added $490 million of funding for California State Preschool Program and TK facilities in Fiscal Year 2021-2022. This funding is to provide one-time grants to school districts to construct new school facilities or retrofit existing school facilities for the purpose of providing TK and full-day kindergarten classrooms.
While filing an application does not guarantee funding; if an application is approved, the district will be awarded a reservation of funds and will have 12 months to submit the required approvals such as the California Department of Education (CDE) plan approval and/or Division of the State Architect (DSA) approved plans. The deadline to apply for this round of funding is April 30, 2022.
This resolution authorizes district staff to file applications for funding in the specified grant program and is providing certification that the district plans to continue to provide Transitional Kindergarten and Full Day Kindergarten services.
In order to move forward with the application Student Facility Programs (SFP) process for this grant, it requires the submission of the attached resolution as part of the packet.
