Rationale:

Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. will bring a portable, inflatable planetarium to Sierra High School (SHS) for two consecutive days of astronomy presentations. All Magnolia first through fifth grade students (including Life Skills students), as well as SHS students taking Earth Science classes, will learn about the planets in our solar system, the major constellations that we can see from the Northern Hemisphere, and the Greek mythological characters represented in the stars. This interactive assembly will increase academic learning in science and technology, support English language development and vocabulary, and create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued, strengthening our school community. AUSD has been working with Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. since 2015.

Budgetary Impact:

The cost, not to exceed $3,790, to be paid from Community Schools funding.

Recommendation:

It is recommended the Board of Education approve agreement between AUSD and Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. - Magnolia Elementary and Sierra High.
