Rationale:
|
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has partnered with a non-profit, Copia, to increase access to food for low-income communities and reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to food waste. Copia makes healthy food more accessible to people in the community by helping businesses redistribute high-quality excess food to feed people in need. Through this partnership, Azusa Unified School District is in compliance with Senate Bill 1383, a statewide effort to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants by reducing organic waste disposal to 50% by 2020 and 75% by 2025.
